John Cratchley The more I listen to this Audio Quarterly production (Ball of Wax - it's much more than just a compilation) the more I like its intentions, its ethos, its quality and its presentation. The music is diverse and eclectic (great! that's what I look for - it's how we broaden our musical scope)...Seattle seems to have talent to spare if this release is true to type...I also really like the idea of writing songs based on the inspiration of books (not a new idea but the results are really interesting).Bandcamp could have been designed for this format. Highly recommended.

about

5 artists were each assigned a different book to read by Paul Constant, books editor at the Stranger in Seattle. We went on to write 5 and record 3 songs inspired by these books. The full 15-song CD (Volume 25 of Ball of Wax Audio Quarterly) was released at a concert on August 19th at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center.

Funded by a 2011 CityArtist grant from the City of Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs.
